The Four Seasons
What Each Season Feels Like
CDA's seasons are real and distinct — not just temperature changes, but complete shifts in landscape, recreation, and lifestyle.
Spring
March – May
Mild and green with plenty of rain. Lake Coeur d'Alene fills in, wildflowers bloom across the Palouse, and the trails dry out by May. Occasional late snow is possible in March.
Summer
June – August
CDA summers are stunning — low humidity, long days, and warm lake temps. July highs average 88°F but rarely spike above 100°F. Perfect for boating, hiking, and outdoor dining on Sherman Ave.
Fall
September – November
Arguably the most beautiful season. The Selkirk and Cabinet mountains turn gold and crimson. September is warm and dry; November brings the first snows. Ideal for hunting, hiking, and harvest festivals.
Winter
December – February
Cold and snowy, but manageable. Silver Mountain and Schweitzer are within 45 minutes. Downtown CDA stays active year-round. Temps rarely stay below 0°F for long — it's a livable winter, not brutal.
